The Curse of The Happy Buddha
I got a 2lb. happy buddha in the mail yesterday. It was a farewell gift from my colleagues in Hong Kong, and I had left it at my parents' house while I was hopping around the world. I recently cleaned out my stuff in their basement, and put it on the shelf. The happy buddha was mostly intact, but he was missing some of his fingers.
Creeped out by his facial expression, my parents said it was better that I had it. With some misfortunes going on around them, they said that the clay/porcelain figure may have something to do with it.
I'm not the superstitious kind, but I can't say that everything has been peachy of late. Someone once said that when we see something bad happens, we concentrate on the 1 bad when there are one hundred good things going on. Well... with a lot of unfortunate things happening around me, I can't push away the "what if"s creeping into my thoughts....
Maybe the buddha has a grudge. I will need to get some super glue soon...
